2018 Battle of the Corona Dragon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc

Dave’s idea was to have a painting commissioned for a new wine label to reflect the fight that we are all having with the Coronavirus.  He immediately contacted our designer in Florence who works with an incredible Italian artist. While in lockdown, Vieri Panerai painted an epic piece which depicts a battle with a rider on a horse battling a dragon with the Coronavirus in its mouth.

In 1989, Dave went on a trip to Venice, Italy and acquired a bronze statue of Michael fighting the dragon (this story was written by John in the Bible Book of Revelation 12:9-12, in 96 C.E.). This statue inspired Dave to commission a new label of our own fight against coronavirus. The mounted rider represents Del Dotto wine.

Tasting Notes
The 2018 Battle of the Corona Dragon is everything the 2017 was, but more. Fresh, ripe, dark fruit exudes from the glass. Blackberry and black cherry are balanced by hints of pie crust and barrel spice. The palate is incredibly juicy and concentrated, but the wine has a velvety richness. The finely textured tannins provide just enough strength to the wine, without being overpowering. It presents perfectly seamless from start to finish.
