2018 St. Helena Mountain American Oak Fouquet Carved and Grooved B2 Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

One of the most intense wines in our collection and the backbone of THE BEAST, the St. Helena Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon always delivers. Ripe expressions of California Cabernet: blackberry, plum, cassis, licorice, and concentrated blueberry. Highlights of graphite and stone, chocolate and spice, all make this wine endlessly complex. The mouthfeel is rich and flows broadly across the palate with exceptionally juicy and fine tannins.

The oak for these barrels are from Minnesota which have tighter grains than other American Oak, the “grooves” are carved into each of the staves offering softer tannin extraction. This creates a wine that is more comparable to a wine aged in French Oak, with a longer and smoother finish than Missouri or Kentucky Oak.  Common tasting notes imparted from this barrel include coconut and vanilla. Often referred to the “Hawaiian vacation barrel” as it is reminiscent of a Pina Colada!
