2022 The Beast Extended Aged Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L with Caged Box

Our Extended Aged program began as an experiment to discover what would happen if we allowed a limited selection of The Beast Cabernet Sauvignon to remain in our finest French oak barrels well beyond its customary élevage. After 42 months in barrel, an additional 18 to 24 months beyond the standard release, the wine develops extraordinary depth, seamless integration, and an irresistibly velvety texture. This extended aging softens and refines the tannins, allowing the wine to be enjoyed earlier upon release while retaining the structure and complexity to age beautifully for years to come.
The 2022 Beast Extended Aged Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from our Estate vineyards: 50% St. Helena Mountain, 23% Vineyard 887, 13% Oakville, 7% Howell Mountain, 5% Villa del Lago and 2% Rutherford Estate.
The bouquet unfolds in richly interwoven layers of forest floor, brambleberry marmalade, milk chocolate and caramel, followed by allspice, graham cracker and beautifully integrated toasted oak. The palate is deeply concentrated and viscous, with a seamless tannin structure that fills the mouth from front to back. Extended barrel aging brings added dimension and remarkable polish, folding notes of dark fruit, crunchy toffee and warm oak spice into a harmonious whole. The finish is exceptionally long, plush and enveloping, lingering in waves of dark fruit and thick velvet.
Produced from a limited selection of barrels, this is a compelling expression of The Beast: powerful and opulent, yet remarkably smooth, integrated and refined.
