Tasting Notes:

Alain Fouquet is a fourth-generation French cooper with over 50 years of experience in traditional barrel making, specializing in crafting high-quality oak barrels for winemaking.  Alain Fouquet is known for his dedication to preserving family heritage and perfecting his craft, utilizing the best French and American oak trees to create barrels that enhance the flavors of fine wines. 

The oak for these barrels are from Minnesota which have tighter grains than other American Oak, the “grooves” are carved into each of the staves offering softer tannin extraction. This creates a wine that is more comparable to a wine aged in French Oak, with a longer and smoother finish than Missouri or Kentucky Oak.  Common tasting notes imparted from this barrel include coconut and vanilla. Often referred to the “Hawaiian vacation barrel” as it is reminiscent of a Pina Colada!
