2012 St. Helena Mountain Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
Rich and smooth, this is eleven barrels of the best French oaks we have. This is a subdued integrated wine and a nice representation of the vineyard and vintage in general. Rich forward bouquet, black fruits showing with a very syrupy, thick, viscosity and long slow legs. Very complex. All we can say is it is a great wine!

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Mountain is the most powerful wine in the entire Del Dotto lineup, coming in at 15.9% natural alcohol. The 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from our beautiful St. Helena Mountain Vineyard at the base of the world renowned Mayacamas Mountain range may be another one of the World's Great wines! The Family Reserve Blend is a combination of the best blocks from the vineyard and highlights the best French oak barrels made At first glance the wine exudes dark color. On the nose there are beautiful nuances of baking chocolate, cassis, crushed wet rock and spice. The palate delivers a bright fruit mouth feel, rich black fruits and a hint of fresh saddle leather with a long silky finish. Enjoy now or over the next 20 years!
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reserve St. Helena Mountain comes from the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, not far from one of my favorite first-growth vineyard sites, the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard. This is killer wine, with La Mission Haut Brion-like notes of scorched earth, gravelly minerality, and beautiful blueberry and blackcurrant fruit building to a full-bodied crescendo, with stunning intensity and purity. This beauty is like a top Bordeaux on steroids. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. 98 Points
2015 St. Helena Mountain Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
St. Helena Mountain continues to amaze with the complexity and purity of quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet's. The bouquet is exciting and seductive with a slight sweetness to compliment its full bodied backbone. Nuances of caramel, butterscotch, espresso and hazelnut add layers to the aromatics of bing cherry and wild strawberries. The flavors are just as vibrant adding characteristics of rhubarb, pie crust, black amber plum, chocolate toffee and almond. This wine is beautifully structured with a cashmere like finish that will last at least a couple decades. Drink now over the next 20 years!
2016 St. Helena Mountain Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
Our St. Helena Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon grows nestled into the lower hillside of the Mayacamas Mountain range in Northwestern Napa. This wine is an absolute powerhouse with layers of complexity to balance the firm tannin structure. Aromatics of sandalwood spices are rounded out by a rich caramel butterscotch characteristic, and offering black currants and pie crust. The flavors are bold and intense. Dark chocolate compliments the plum and black cherry fruits. The mouthfeel is supreme and the finish seems everlasting. This top flight Cabernet can be described as the iron fist in the velvet glove and should drink incredibly well for the next 25 years.

The 2017 St. Helena Mountain Family Reserve…so here are the notes from 2018: One of the most intense wines in our collection, the St. Helena Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon always delivers. Ripe expressions of California Cabernet: blackberry, plumb, cassis, licorice, and concentrated blueberry. Highlights of graphite and stone, chocolate and spice, all make this wine endlessly complex. The mouthfeel is rich and flows broadly across the palate with exceptionally juicy and fine tannins. We really think this is a great description of how the wine is year in and year out. We do have vintage notes in general, but how should we handle this? I think it is the way to go with compiling these notes for all our wines and only really changing notes if there is a distinctive reason.
