Oakville Estate – Piazza Del Dotto – Oakville Appellation

Piazza Del Dotto Oakville Estate property contains 8.5 acres of cabernet sauvignon. Consisting of well-drained gravel soil, the cabernets from this property showcase a beautiful herbaceous characteristic reminiscent of those from the nearby To Kalon vineyard. The Oakville AVA is known for its Bordeaux varietals, which produces wines of rich texture. There are over 14 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc planted on this vineyard.

An appellation that totals 5,700 acres it is virtually a flat field squeezed between the Mayacamas Mountains to the west and the Vaca Range on the east. The gravelly, well drained soils are perfect for the Bordeaux varieties of grapes planted here. The wines from the Oakville Appellation are characteristically rich and dense, with firm tannins and often with notes of mint and herbs. The cooling wind and fog that rolls in during the afternoon greatly influences the fine balance achieved in these wines. The appellation was established in August of 1993.
