Our Wines
Over 30+ years, the Del Dotto family has assembled a portfolio of vineyards across the most acclaimed appellations in Napa Valley and the Sonoma Coast, each site chosen for one reason: the potential to produce world-class wine.
Most of the wines we make come from a single vineyard. Many are bottled from a single barrel, making each selection a one-of-a-kind expression that cannot be replicated once it is gone.
Why our wines are hard to find
Del Dotto wines are sold almost entirely from the winery — to the people who visit, and to our Wine Club and VIP members through our allocation program. We have very little distribution, and we have not submitted wines for scoring since Robert Parker retired; we would rather the wines be judged in the cave, from the barrel, by the person who will cellar them.
The Beast, Villa Del Lago and the Family Reserve single-vineyard Cabernets are released only to VIP members, and most single-barrel bottlings are gone within a season. The way in is a visit: the Private Connoisseur Cave Experience at either winery, which includes VIP Gold membership. Learn more →
Rutherford Estate
Rutherford Bench Appellation — Napa Valley
This is where it all began. The Rutherford Estate is Dave and Yolanda Del Dotto’s home, the property they purchased on the spot in 1988 after falling in love with the view. The first vines were planted in 1990 with Margaux clones, and the winery and caves opened here in 2007.
Rutherford is the appellation that made Napa Valley famous, known for its legendary ‘Rutherford Dust’, a quality of earthy, minerally complexity that winemakers have sought for over a century. The wines from this estate are more subdued and elegant than our mountain sites, with the refined structure and classic character that collectors of traditional Napa Cabernet love.
From this vineyard we produce 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, The David Bordeaux-style blend, 7 Rows Cabernet Franc, and Giovanni’s Tuscan Reserve.

Vineyard 887
St. Helena Appellation — Napa Valley
Named for its address off Highway 29, Vineyard 887 produces some of the most effortlessly elegant Cabernet Sauvignon in our collection. The tannins are so finely structured, so silky in the glass, that our team gave the wines a nickname, Silk Juice.
Where our mountain sites produce power and intensity, 887 produces lush blueberry and black cherry fruit with a softness that makes it approachable young and extraordinary with age. Its supple structure also makes it an exceptional canvas for our single-barrel program, the unique character of each barrel shines through beautifully here.

St. Helena Mountain
St. Helena Appellation — Napa Valley
Despite its name, St. Helena Mountain sits on the valley floor, tucked against the Mayacamas Mountains and neighboring the legendary Bourn and Dr. Crane Vineyards. It is one of the most historically celebrated growing sites in all of Napa Valley.
The wines are everything you want: dark cassis, rich texture, silky tannins, and a finish that lingers. This vineyard is the backbone of The Beast, making up half the blend in our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine that earned multiple 100-point scores from Robert Parker.

Oakville Estate
Oakville Appellation — Napa Valley
Nestled between the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain ranges just north of Yountville, the Oakville Estate surrounds our Piazza Del Dotto winery. The Oakville AVA is one of the most decorated appellations in Napa Valley, a place where the balance of warm days, cool afternoons, and well-drained soils creates wines of both power and elegance.
The wines from this site are exceptionally lush and fruit-forward, jammy berry notes balanced by mouth-watering acidity. They are built to age beautifully over decades, rewarding patience and cellaring.

Howell Mountain
Howell Mountain Appellation — Napa Valley
At 1,400 feet elevation, Howell Mountain is where Napa Valley’s Mountain wines are made. The volcanic ash and red clay soils here produce Cabernet Sauvignon unlike anything on the valley floor, inky, concentrated, with dark chocolate and savory herbs woven through the fruit.
These are powerful wines, but do not mistake power for roughness. Our free-run winemaking style and careful barrel aging tame the mountain tannins into something structured and complex, wines that reward a decade of cellaring and open up into something extraordinary.
The vines here were transplanted from our original Rutherford Estate, connecting Howell Mountain back to the property where Del Dotto began.

The Beast

The Beast earned its name. A blend of our finest Napa Valley vineyard blocks, led by St. Helena Mountain and anchored by selections from across our estate portfolio, The Beast is the wine that put Del Dotto on the world stage.
It is one of the most highly awarded wines in the world — with multiple 100-point scores from Robert Parker. On Vivino, it carries a 4.8 rating from thousands of wine lovers who have had the privilege of opening a bottle.

Villa Del Lago
Pritchard Hill — Napa Valley — VIP Member Access
Pritchard Hill is Napa Valley at its most elevated, literally and figuratively. Perched above Lake Hennessey at the eastern edge of the valley, the volcanic soils and dramatic elevation here produce wines of extraordinary complexity and longevity.
Villa Del Lago is our sister property located on Pritchard Hill, a Cabernet Sauvignon of remarkable depth and elegance that has earned its place among the finest wines produced anywhere in the world. Cinghiale Vineyard
Fort Ross-Seaview — Sonoma Coast
Cinghiale means wild boar in Italian and this vineyard earns the name. Perched above the Pacific Ocean in the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation, the Cinghiale Vineyard exists in a world entirely different from Napa Valley. The fog rolls in off the coast every morning. The temperatures are 20 degrees cooler than the valley floor. The growing season is longer, slower, and more demanding.
The result is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of striking elegance and complexity, wines shaped by the ocean, the elevation, and the patience required to farm here. When you taste our Cinghiale Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, you taste the coast.
For collectors who know Del Dotto through our Napa Cabernets, the Cinghiale wines offer a completely different expression of what this family can do when the land demands something different.

The Winemaking
Robbie Meyer has made the Del Dotto wines since 2019. He first worked with the family in 2005, when the Del Dottos brought him in to head winemaking for the Cinghiale Vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the Sonoma Coast, and he now oversees every vineyard in the portfolio. The approach has not changed: organically farmed estate fruit, free-run juice, and new French and American oak from named forests and coopers, the same barrels guests compare in the cave. Most wines come from a single vineyard; many from a single barrel.

In his final report on the 2013s — a vintage he called the greatest he had tasted in 37 years of visiting Northern California — Robert Parker awarded 100 points to The Beast, 98+ to 100 to Villa Del Lago, and 98 to both St. Helena Mountain and Vineyard 887, describing the house’s wines as some of the best made in Napa Valley.
