2014 Howell Mountain Single Cluster Cabernet Sauvignon Etched 6L

A cordon-trained grapevine, with two arms and five shoots on each arm, optimally ripens two clusters of grapes per shoot. By training our vines to yield a single cluster per shoot, we have increased our vines' ability to produce a more intensely concentrated wine, from each of our premier single vineyard blocks throughout the Napa Valley. The resulting wines demonstrate the single vineyard's characteristics and complexities, culminating in a remarkably lush and nuanced high quality wine.

Tasting Notes:

Deep red almost black in color this wine reveals dense and concentrated wild-berry aromas immediately on the bouquet as well as distinct herbaceous notes, green tobacco, menthol, cedar, pencil shavings, violets, spring flowers, cola, and intense wet-rocky minerality. A dulce de leche creaminess coupled with sweet cherries, under-ripe blueberries, black currant, mulberry, brandied cherries, crushed strawberries and wild blackberry are enhanced by hints of cocoa, bittersweet chocolate and savory herbs. This wine finishes strong with a dense gravelly graphite minerality and bold tannin structure and would benefit immensely with some age… if one can wait to drink. Will drink beautifully for 15+ years.
