2014 Rutherford Estate Single Cluster Cabernet Sauvignon Etched 6L

A cordon-trained grapevine, with two arms and five shoots on each arm, optimally ripens two clusters of grapes per shoot. By training our vines to yield a single cluster per shoot, we have increased our vines' ability to produce a more intensely concentrated wine, from each of our premier single vineyard blocks throughout the Napa Valley. The resulting wines demonstrate the single vineyard's characteristics and complexities, culminating in a remarkably lush and nuanced high quality wine.

Tasting Notes:

This Rutherford "powerhouse" represents all that is beautiful in Bordeaux varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. Beginning with its deep purple and ruby color this wine explodes out of the glass with intense aromatics of white flowers, roasted black plum, blackberries, and black raspberries lead way to notes of sweet caramel, camphor and fresh cigar box. A powerful entry on the palate those richly concentrated black fruits and black raspberry liqueur are bolstered by notes of warm toasted oak, caramelized brown sugar, roasted coffee bean, toasty nutmeg and vanilla bean intertwined with crushed rock, graphite as well as hints of dusty earth.  It finishes with a bold, luxurious, cashmere and satiny rich smoothness which lingers well over a full 60 seconds on the palate.  This wine really shows why our family fell in love with the Rutherford appellation!
