Frequently Asked Questions
Which location should I visit?
All our wineries offer an exceptional Cave Experience and Barrel Tasting, so your choice may come down to the ambiance and setting you prefer.
The Del Dotto Estate in St. Helena is an opulent, Venetian-style property, featuring a stunning cave adorned with imported tiles and Murano glass chandeliers—evoking the elegance of a European palace.
The Piazza Del Dotto, located just north of Yountville, offers a warm Tuscan-inspired atmosphere. The golden-hued barchessa opens to a beautifully manicured garden, and the cave—lined with marble, chandeliers, and frescoes—is just a short stroll from the tasting room.
The Historic Del Dotto Winery in Napa provides a more rustic charm. Housed in a ivy-covered stone building, this site features a hand-dug cave dating back to the 1880s, offering an authentic and historically rich tasting experience with its naturally exposed cave walls.
You can explore interior photos of each cave here.
Do you offer private tastings?
Yes, we offer the Private Connoisseur Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting, which includes a guided experience and elevated wine offerings. This experience requires a $2,500 wine purchase minimum. To learn more or submit a request, please click here.
Can children or underage guests visit without tasting?
All guests must be at least 21 years of age. We are unable to accommodate children, infants, or underage individuals on the premises, regardless of participation in tastings.
Do you offer wine by the glass?
We do not offer wines by the glass.
Do you offer production tours?
We do not offer tours of the production facility.
Are your wineries wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all our winery locations are wheelchair accessible. For the most comfortable experience, we recommend visiting Piazza Del Dotto or the Del Dotto Estate, as their newer, wider caves provide easier navigation. The Historic Del Dotto Winery is also accessible, though the cave spaces are more compact due to the historic nature of the site.
What if someone in my party is a non-drinker?
For the Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting, we can accommodate one non-drinker per reservation at a reduced rate of $40 plus tax. Please note that all guests, including non-drinkers, must be at least 21 years of age and must be included in the total guest count on the reservation.
If the non-drinker is pregnant, we are happy to waive the non-drinker fee as a courtesy.
Because our online reservation system does not currently support the non-drinker option, please call us directly at 707-963-2134 and we’ll be glad to assist with your booking.
Please note that non-drinker pricing is not available for our Delicacies wine and food pairings.
I have a large group, but the reservation system only allows bookings for up to 6 guests. What should I do?
While our online reservation system accommodates parties of up to six guests, we can occasionally host larger groups for the Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting on Monday through Thursday mornings, depending on availability. These accommodations are offered at either the Del Dotto Estate in St. Helena or Piazza Del Dotto winery just north of Yountville.
To inquire about availability for a larger group, please complete our Large Party Request Form by clicking here. A member of our team will respond as soon as possible.
Do you have a restaurant? Can I have lunch at your winery?
We do not have a restaurant or offer traditional lunch service. However, on most Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, we offer the Delicacies Wine & Food Pairing with Barrel Tasting at our Piazza Del Dotto location. This experience features thoughtfully curated small bites paired with select wines and includes a guided barrel tasting. Reservations are required. Can I bring a picnic?
Due to county regulations picnics and outside food are not permitted at any of our wineries or on the surrounding grounds.
Which winery has pizza?
All three of our locations—Del Dotto Estate, Piazza Del Dotto, and the Historic Del Dotto Winery—offer the Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting, which includes a small serving of pizza toward the end of the tasting.
Please note: We are not permitted to have food a la carte. Pizza is not available for purchase separately and cannot be ordered à la carte. It is exclusively included as part of the Cave Experience.
Can I bring my dog or pet?
Only certified service animals are allowed. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted on the premises.
Can I visit the property without a tasting reservation?
Our wineries are open by appointment only for scheduled tastings. We are not open for general visits or self-guided tours. We do encourage you to call day of and inquire about availability as we often do have space for last minute openings.
Can I stop by to purchase wine?
Yes, guests are welcome to stop by to purchase wine for take-home only. Please note that:
- Tasting appointments are required to enjoy wine onsite.
- Depending on staff availability, there may be a short wait for assistance.
- Large groups should refrain from visiting without a scheduled tasting, as we are unable to accommodate unscheduled group visits.
Can I take engagement photos or do a photoshoot?

Can I have a wedding or wedding reception at the winery?
We are not legally permitted by the county of Napa to host weddings or wedding receptions at any of our winery locations.
Do you offer proposal or engagement experiences?
We do not offer special packages or private events specifically for proposals. However, if you have a reservation for the Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting, you are welcome to propose at the conclusion of your experience. Please note that proposals are not permitted inside the cave. Additionally, tastings are shared experiences, and you will be paired with other guests during your visit.
Do you provide transportation?
We do not offer transportation services at this time. We recommend arranging private transportation or utilizing local car service providers.
