The scriptures give the warrior the signs to look for and what the dragon will do to man. The warrior realizes he must share the knowledge with mankind and then fight the last battle with the dragon.

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot sourced from Calistoga aged on 100% new French Oak
Our “Calistoga BDX” blend is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The fruit is all sourced from the Kenefick Ranch in Calistoga, a property farmed since the early 1970s by Dr. Kenefick. The vineyard is planted in rhyolitic soils at the base of Mt. St. Helena and produces concentrated fruit displaying ripe, warm fruit characteristics along with fine, balanced tannins.
The vineyard where our BDX Blend is located is the “it” part of Calistoga. Across from Solage and the new Four Seasons property and next door to Araujo. This beautiful vineyard location rests on an alluvial fan at the base of the Palisades, the rise high above Calistoga. Warm days yield to cooling breezes that spill through the Chalk Hill Gap in the evenings. The wines have a bright acidity on the palate.
This is a truly engaging wine, artfully showcasing the synergy of classic Bordeaux grapes. The initial aromatic wave delivers an impression of succulent red currant and fresh cherry, a bright greeting that soon deepens. This evolves into a richer core of intense blackberry and dark plum, accented by intriguing notes of mocha shavings and a subtle floral lift of candied violets. 52% Grenache, 33% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre
One of the most interesting blends that we produce, the GSM hails from our spectacular Cinghiale vineyard. The coastal climate is prime conditions for these Rhone varieties. The Syrah is concentrated expressing beautiful blackberry, spicy black pepper, and even floral notes. The Mourvèdre provides a rich mouthfeel in addition to a complex aromatic presence of fresh earth and dark fruit. The Grenache excels in particular on the coast, offering raspberry spice, strawberry compote, and a framing liveliness that completes the entire wine. While we have offered the individual varieties in the past, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to paint the wonderful picture that the dynamic blend has to offer.

Over the last few years, the Piazza Reserve has quickly become a staff favorite. It is a blend of primarily Oakville Cabernet from the front of the property at Piazza with a splash of Merlot to round out and soften up the finish. The nose exudes beautiful red fruit purée, French vanilla bean, snickerdoodle cookie crumbles and a hint of baking spice. The flavors are delicious, ranging from raspberry and strawberry pie to warm cocoa and dusty earth that finishes with a satin like richness.

From our vineyard in Oakville located where our Piazza Del Dotto winery resides this Cabernet Sauvignon almost jumps from the glass with enticing aromas of licorice, black-cherry, and currents, blending with nuances of cedar, dried herbs, ripe fig, and Bourbon barrels. Gorgeous on the palate, but with some strength, this tends to be one of the more structured wines yet still finishes with length and silkiness. Should age well for 15-20 years.

One of the most intense wines in our collection and the backbone of THE BEAST, the St. Helena Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon always delivers. Ripe expressions of California Cabernet: blackberry, plum, cassis, licorice, and concentrated blueberry. Highlights of graphite and stone, chocolate and spice, all make this wine endlessly complex. The mouthfeel is rich and flows broadly across the palate with exceptionally juicy and fine tannins.
